Ostraka

Ostraka, the daily cultural investigation

Terms of use

Last updated: October 2026

1. Purpose

These terms of use govern access to and use of Ostraka, a daily cultural investigation game available at playostraka.com.

2. Acceptance

By using the service, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

3. Access

The service is free and requires no sign-up. Minors must have the consent of their legal guardian to save their progress with an email address.

4. Saving and signing in

Saving your progress relies on a valid email address, to which a personal sign-in link is sent; no password is created. You are responsible for access to your inbox: any sign-in through a link received there is deemed to be made by you.

The nickname you choose must not infringe the rights of others, public order or decency.

5. Fair use

You agree to use the service fairly. In particular, the following are prohibited:

  • any attempt to bypass security systems;
  • the use of bots, scripts or other automated tools, in particular to test answers in bulk;
  • any form of cheating or manipulation of results, crests or achievements.

6. Cultural content

Daily cases are written and checked with care, but may contain errors or simplifications. Illustrations deliberately mix the real and the imaginary: which is which is explained on the back of each card. Please report any error to hello@playostraka.com.

7. Intellectual property

All content of the service (texts, illustrations, sounds, code, databases) is protected by intellectual property law. Any reproduction or use without prior permission is prohibited, apart from the result sharing offered by the game.

8. Changes to the service

Ostraka is a game in development: its rules, content and features may change. These terms may be amended; significant changes will be announced. Ostraka may suspend access for a player who does not comply with them.

9. Liability

The service is provided as is. Ostraka cannot be held liable for service interruptions, data loss or indirect damage arising from its use.

10. Contact

For any question about these terms: hello@playostraka.com.
